Abstract


The author have examined the oral health status for school children at Cheongju city as 10 years¢¥ water fluoridated city compared to in Seoul city and `Cheonan city. The obtained data were compared and estimated the caries prevention effects as followings.
1. DMF rate, DMFT rate and DMFT index were slightly higher in each age of children at rural city area than those of Seoul area, in general,
2. DMF rate, DMFT rate and DAFT index as well as dft rate, dft index were estimated as less in children of Cheongju city than those of Seoul or ,Cheonan city. Moreover the-first molar teeth health degree were estimated slightly higher in Cheongju than in Seoul or Cheonan city. So it was revealed that some caries prevention effects for 10 years¢¥ water fluoridation on pilot program was recognized
3. The caries prevention effects at 12 years old chrildren of Cheongju city as fluoridated area were estimated about 13.8% to 34%, at each ages, compared to such non-fluoridated area as Seoul or Cheonan city, and the caries prevention effects world be more increased if every piped water at Cheongju city were supplied with fluoridation.
